- Growing Up Yanomamo by
Michael Dawson (M)
For adults or older children, this book recounts the adventures of a
boy growing up among the Yanomamo tribespeople in the Amazon
rainforest. The accounts of how many of the Yanomamo people came
to
know the one true God and his Son are truly inspiring. A good
book for
families to read together.
- Imposter, by Davis Bunn (F)
Adventure, a love story, and characters who mature in Christ are
contained in this powerful suspense thriller.
- The Consequences of Ideas
by R.C. Sproul (R&P)
The goal of this book is to remind us how powerful ideas can be.
Starting with Thales of Miletus, Sproul takes us on a journey through
philosophy. He looks at Plato and Aristotle and then moves to
Augustine and Thomas Aquinas, two men who have shaped the ideas of the
church perhaps more than any others. Sproul then takes a look at
philosophers like Descartes, Locke, Hume, Kant, Marx, Kierkegaard,
Nietzsche, Sartre, and even Darwin and Freud. Some are Christina;
some
are anti-Christian; all are profoundly influential.
